The image of Mary Untier of Knots It would be an allegory of human difficulties, symbolized as knotted colored ribbons or ribbons, which the Virgin unties and unties like a mother helping her children.

His cult teaches that his immeasurable love is capable of granting requests and resolving conflicts (untying knots).

He is credited with the power to untie the knots that make people's lives difficult and solve their problems.

It is said that The Virgin Untier of Knots intercedes before God to help people find solutions to complicated situations and conflicts in their lives.

The story goes back to Germany and was brought to Argentina and Brazil to be venerated by a young Jesuit: the current Pope Francis.

The mystical legend began in Germany when a couple had difficulty having children, so their relationship was getting worse. With their prayers and placing a colored ribbon with a knot, simulating their situation, at the feet of an image of the Virgin Mary, they were able to improve their relationship and even had 3 children.

In gratitude, they asked an artist to paint an image depicting that holy action. The man took the Marian image and presented it to the Immaculate Conception, protected by the Holy Spirit and surrounded by angels. He also showed her treading on the head of a serpent (a symbol of evil and sin) and holding tangled ribbons that, once passed through her hands, were untied. It is said that this was a way of symbolizing how faith and love could untie the knots of human problems that hinder human communication with God. It was around the year 1700, and in German, this image became known as Maria als Knotenlöserin, or "Mary the Undoer of Knots." That is, "Mary the Undoer of Knots."

The artist's name was Johann Georg Melchor Schmidtner, a man of renowned experience in the German church and in 16th-century Italy, having trained in Venice. Historians say the image was made for the altarpiece of the Blessed Virgins of Good Counsel, the place to which the noble couple donated it. Over the years, and after the altarpiece was destroyed (apparently in a war), the work ended up in the church of St. Peter am Perlach in Augsburg, where it is still preserved. Of course, this is not the only place in the world where she is venerated; in Buenos Aires, the Virgin Untier of Knots (as she is popularly known) also has thousands of faithful followers who come to her on the 8th of every month to ask for her spiritual help.

It was in 1984 when a priest who had gone to study in Germany brought back a postcard depicting her. That Jesuit priest was named Jorge Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, one of the many faithful followers of this Marian devotion.
